This film is based on The Kingdom of Shadows written by the author Artiside Torchia in Venice 1666. This man was burned alive at the stake with all of his works for forming an allegiance with Satan. So what it comes down to an evil kingdom and what is inside that evil kingdom? The year seemed rather symbolic 1666 to execute him.
